Orthopaedic Injuries In The Polytraumatized Patient – Early Management

A case-based course for Nordic orthopaedic surgeons/residents.

We will address early management of the adult polytraumatized patient with orthopaedic injuries. When and what to do, including timing of surgery. Orthopaedic pitfalls and avoidable deaths. The course will take place in Stockholm on the 21st-22ndof November 2019.

The course will have a focus on cases with discussion.

Participants will receive a reading list of relevant articles prior to the course.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

The course is aimed at orthopaedic surgeons at the end of their residency, or orthopaedic surgeons in need of an update.

OBJECTIVES

  • To update the participants of polytrauma preparedness and early management
  • After finishing the course, the participants should be able to adequately evaluate a trauma patient with orthopaedic injuries, prioritize between different treatment options, as well as to handle a referral of the patient to a larger hospital, when needed.
